Take care of your appliances, and they’ll take care of you.
1. That Dirty Dishwasher

Sure, your dishwasher may clean your dishes, but that doesn’t mean that it is going to just magically keep itself clean in the process. But if you are nice to your dishwasher, it will keep cleaning your dishes for years to come.
To ensure that happens, make sure to give the washer cleaning time of its own. Run an empty load with some white vinegar thrown in there -- your washer will be all the cleaner for it.
2. Clean Those Coils

Your fridge is important: Imagine what life was like before people could store perishable food in the convenience of their kitchens? We shudder at the very thought.
There are some things you can do to help your fridge stay at peak performance for as long as possible. For example, you know the coils under the fridge? Clean and brush those out at least once a year. A vacuum can help with that process, too.
3. Limit Those Loads
There’s a reason your washer and dryer have load limits. No, the reason isn’t to make your life miserable by forcing you to take your time to split one giant load into a few smaller loads. It’s not some grand laundry laundering conspiracy.
It’s actually because it can damage your washer and dryer. For best results, you should take a few trips to the laundry room instead of balancing it all in one giant pile.
4. Conditioning Your Air Conditioner

Especially in Arizona’s never-ending and extreme summers, keeping your home cool and at the right temperature is important. Your air conditioner works tirelessly to provide the perfect climate for you. It doesn’t ask for much in return, really.
But there is something you can do to help it out. Please, please change your air filters every couple months. Keep you air conditioner happy, and you’ll be happy -- and cool -- all summer long.
5. Properly Rocking Your Range
Home is where the range is, and you want that range to properly cook your food night in and night out. It’s an important part of your kitchen-wide operation, and thus should be treated appropriately.
The key here is to keep an eye on the flame -- a blue flame means your range is in good, healthy condition. If the flame is yellow or orange, clean those burners out! A little needle poke into the pilot holes will go a long way toward keeping everything clean.
6. Guarding the Garbage Disposal
Imagine if your whole job was just chewing up and breaking down garbage. Yeah, you’d probably be a little grumpy too if people forgot to clean you out after that.
Running cold water after each time you use the disposal helps, but you can also throw lemons and ice into it and let it run to keep things operating smoothly -- and smelling fresh!
7. Managing the Microwave
Sure, microwaves may be using literal microwave radiation to rapidly heat up your food, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t need to be regularly cleaned. Keep it free from food particles and spills no different than you would any other cooktop or cooking surface.
8. Regular Reading
These are usually tossed to the wayside or hidden somewhere in a junk drawer, but you should take the time to read every manual that comes with any of your appliances. They’ll include specific care tips to keep in mind, and you might even learn a thing or two about how your appliance operates -- and how you can keep it operating for years.
9. Door Decorum
This isn’t a rule for specific appliances, but a general life-guiding principle when working with all of your appliances, or at least those with doors.
Don’t slam the doors. Gently close your washer or dryer, and don’t slam the fridge shut in a hurry every morning as you run late out the door. Be gentle with these machines! Respect their power! And even if you don’t, at least be careful closing their doors.
10. Vivifying Vacuums

Vacuums spend all day picking up your dirt and dander and make sure that your dust doesn't stick around for too long. Hey, being a vacuum is a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
If you want to keep your vacuum running smoothly, make sure to change the bag -- and any filters -- on the regular.
With these tips by your side, you’ll be equipped to keep your appliances working for the long run. But even the best -- and best cared for -- appliances do need to be replaced, and that’s where we come in! Stop by or give us a call today and we’ll help you find new appliances ready to make your life easier!
